We offer self-drive 3.5-ton horse box hire within easy reach of junctions 24 and 25 of the M25 and the A10, conveniently located in Enfield, EN2. Our new build box is designed with horse and human comfort in mind. So whether you’re planning a trip to the beach or you’re off to a show, you’ll arrive ready to go!

Built by Thorpe Horseboxes, our box is very well-built and properly reinforced in all the right places, including a fully enclosed and reinforced bulkhead, reinforced walls with rubber overlay and reinforcement between the cab and horse area.The ramp is double thickness, spring assisted and there’s a barn door style top section for safety.

About Enfield Horse Box Hire

Our horse box is a new build and can be driven on a car licence. It is super easy to drive and horses travel well in it. It has CCTV so you can watch how your horse is travelling, plus it’s got a reversing camera and sensor for added safety.

The box is very well-ventilated with horse head windows on both sides, two extra ventilation windows, roof ventilation, and our favourite, a viewing window from the cab area into the horse area. For the humans, the cab is fully air-conditioned.

In the back, there’s a living area with storage benches and faux leather padded seating. There’s also an external tack locker with two saddle racks and bridle holders, with a deep space for boots, sticks etc.

  • In common with other self-drive horse box companies, we ask you for signed Terms & Conditions and a completed Hirers Questionnaire. We also need a copy of your driver’s licence, a DVLA check code from gov.uk/view-driving-licence and two proof of address from the following list: Bank Statement / Gas / Water / Electricity Bill / Credit Card Statement Council Tax Bill / Statement /Mortgage Statement HMRC Tax Code Notice / Rent Book HMRC Self Assessment / “Notice to Complete a Tax Return” / Employment Pay Slip or Mobile Phone Contract Statement

  • Collection and return is from Crews Hill, EN2 postcode and we aim to be as flexible as possible on pick up and drop off times. Typically, our horsebox will be available for pick up from the from 7.00am (or the evening before by prior arrangement, subject to availability) and must be returned to on the return date no later than 7.00pm.

  • You are insured to drive the horsebox for the duration of your hire, so if you have an accident our specialist, self drive hire insurance is in place for you. Your horse is not insured, just the vehicle, so you will need to check your own Equine Insurance Policy to check your horse is covered. There is an insurance excess of £500 on the policy.

  • Yes. There is breakdown cover provided. Our box is well maintained but should the worse happen, your horse will be picked up and dropped to your chosen location in the event of a breakdown.
